This creature is based on a chemical element. I decided on tungsten carbide; he could not be human but an animal or beast. In my case, I made a creature with cybernetic parts based on the selected metal in mining and construction; the story I gave was about an enslaved race forced to work in asteroid mining. Because of all the years of mutilation and mistreatment, they learned to organize and reveal themselves against their oppressors, taking control of their facilities and ships.
